About
Are you looking for someone who cares about gardens and 'real' gardening? Whether you want help with your full garden design project, or you need some gardening advice to set you off in the right direction, I can help you!
My ethos is that nature, gardens, gardening, and being out in the fresh air is good for us. And as caring for the natural environment is vital to the well-being of our planet, its flora and fauna, as well as ourselves, I like to encourage my clients in being as environmentally-friendly as possible. With that in mind, I like to make gardens, or advise towards gardens that are wildlife-friendly and ethical as well as beautiful.
When I help a client with a garden design, I work with you to create an outside space that is yours for you to enjoy. Whether you envisage that being a lower or higher maintenance ‘extra room’ is up to you; we can work with this and whatever other requirements you have, matching your lifestyle and aspirations as well as your practical needs. As a 'plantsperson', plants are key to me, so my designs come with plant suppliers and care notes, helping you to look after your garden post-build and know how to care for your plants in the longer term.

When I help a client with a garden consultation I will be helping you to make the most of the space you have. That may be advice about your current planting, some suggestions for other plants, or ideas for landscaping and rejigging some aspects of your garden.

About Jo
This is me, Jo Newton. I've been working in gardening for over 12 years so my plant knowledge, design skills and ideas have built up over that time. I've also got to know the Bolton and Greater Manchester area pretty well which helps me to know what works and what doesn’t. I come from a family with a good history of gardening, in both a professional and amateur capacity giving me a great base to build on when I went professional myself.
I studied the RHS’s (Royal Horticultural Society) Level 2 in 'Garden Design & Maintenance' and passed! I am currently in the process of studying for the corresponding Level 3 course too.
Other important parts of my life involve church - I’m a practicing Christian; I'm married to Nigel and I'm a mum; I read a lot, enjoy photography, and love being out in the woods and hills around Bolton and beyond. Nigel and I also run a photography business which you can see at www.nigelnewtonphotography.co.uk
